With the addition of a new lens, the Canon EF 35mm f/2 II, there will be more astrophotography coming soon! The wide aperature allows me to capture more light, and the true infinity focal point will help speed up the time it takes to set up. The next planned camping trip for such photographs is when the moon will set. So it will be inbetween the 10th and 24th. To calculate moon phases and times it will rise/set visit this, click here!

I've recently been introduced to IR photograph. I discovered, through the help of `gilad's journal on IR photography, that my camera is indeed sensitive to IR light. So with this new information I read up on IR Photography and purchased a Hoya R72 filter. Hopefully I will be able fully capable of doing IR photography. Most cameras stock have a built in IR blocker, which cuts out all IR light. This gives the CMOS sensor a red look to it (if taken apart or viewed during cleaning in SLR cameras); However my camera's CMOS sensor looks more like the photographs of the actual chip or of one after the filter has been removed (note: removing that filter voids your warranty)

Still don't know what IR photography is? There is an invisible, to the humane eye, band of light just above the visible spectrum. Since film and CMOS sensors are sensitive to this light a special filter that allows only IR light in must be used. If you are still curios here are some thumbs of IR photography, afterall a picture is worth a thousand words.
